Bridge

We will be acting as 'engineers' this week we will be making a bridge and it will have to be able to hold a certain amount of weight. We will be placing the bridge across a sink and everyone will be having the exact same weight.

We will be using:
One meter of tape
Six sheets of newspaper

For our bridge, we rolled the sheets of newspaper into thin sticks. once we had done that we tested them and we put the weights over top. We ended up with it reach 40 for the weights. At fifty our bridge bent into the sink. We wanted it to be able to hold fifty so we added tape to the middle where it bent and then used the rest of our tape for the edges to keep them in place.

After looking at everyone else's bridges we realized that we aren't the only ones using that technique, so we would just have to wait and see to find out whose is better.

After the competition, our results were the best! Our bridge held 70 N and ended up being the strongest out of the class. I think ours was really strong because we rolled the newspaper into 6  long thin strips and the thinner the paper is the more layers it has which would make it thick and strong. Also, we used up all the tape and used it on the center and wrapped all the long sticks together.
